	This Hostelry and Coaching house has stood within site of Prestwick's ancient "Mercat Cross" since early in the nineteenth century. Its close links with Scottish and Ayrshire Golf are well founded as it was here in 1851 the "Golf Club of Ayrshire" was formed. This club proposed, created and indeed presented the golfing world with the very first "Open Golf Championship" in 1860. It was played over nearby links for eleven consecutive years.
The Red Lion serves delicious meals each day of the week from 11 am until 9 pm . Catering for all we have an extensive menu to suit all tastes. Children are welcome and we have a dedicated children's menu. Small parties are also catered for. For your convenience there is ample car parking spaces at the rear of the premises.
	There is plenty of spacious seating available for approximately sixty people. We stock a fine selection of wine, beer and spirits available for you to enjoy. There is also a "No Smoking" area.
Evening Entertainment With a friendly welcome our bar staff are happy to serve and help you make the most of your evening. Enjoy a game of pool or watch sports on our big screen television, Listen to some of your favourite music with a large selection to choose from in our jukebox. Saturday evenings there is Karaoke from 9pm till closing, this is always a popular and enjoyable evening.
