Changes mid-story for the first few chapters, then the initial narrative is dropped altogether in the last part of the book.

Nakamura is a very shy, and very gay, high school boy who loves octopuses and who would love to finally find the courage to speak to his crush, fellow classmate Hirose. Sometimes Hirose wears a different shirt under the jacket, but that is most prevalent in his summer uniform. It doesn’t do much to critique the trope, merely playing it off for laughs and to shed light on Nakamura’s extreme anxiety. Overall, I do think there should be more queer stories about “a guy with a crush”, as they can be relatable for many readers (just DEFINITELY not me). And as he watches some other guy cuddle up with Hirose like casual bros, Nakamura tries to keep his head from exploding.
