This mode copies the EDID of the display connected to the capture card output onto the capture card.PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have the capability to output high refresh rate video at 120Hz at various resolutions. To maintain a 120Hz output from PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, the entire video signal chain and connected devices, such as the TV/Monitor and capture card need to be able to support 120Hz. In PC Mode, you also need to connect to the Computers USB 3 Port via the second provided USB 3 cable In contrast with these issues, the 4K60 S+ does have two things going for it. First, the footage recorded in OBS was pixelation and corruption free. Then again, the problem with that is you can no longer record in HDR since OBS does not currently support HDR as of this writing. Even so, this shows there’s issues with Elgato’s 4K Capture Utility which means it can potentially be fixed in an update. Though, they’ve been saying they’ll fix it since the device launched.

The Elgato 4K60S+ has a couple of standout features, including its own hardware encoder and built in SD card slot. If you're someone who frequently travels or just needs to be able to capture footage without needing your PC handy, then this is absolutely the box to get. If the SD Card features these markings, it can record reliability at 30 MB/s (Megabyte) or 240 Mb/s (Megabit). By default, the bitrate for a 4K (3840x2160p) input is 80,000 Kbps or 80Mbps. This equals about 36GB/per hour of recording.This mode sets the EDID of the capture device to the file defined by EDID (Internal) setting. In this mode the connected TV/Monitor capabilities are ignored. When you are recording and reach the end of the card capacity, Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ will leave 90MB or so free so it can properly finish off the file. Afterwards the recording simply stops, but it will not be corrupted. EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is a small configuration file that is stored on devices that take in video signals such as TVs, monitors, and capture cards.

Whencapturing a 120Hz signal, recording frame rate in the 4K Capture Utility will be 60fps. The 120Hz signal will be converted to 60fps during recording. Please make sure that the device receives the power by the provided power adapter and USB 3 cable. It's important to use a wall power outlet and not trying to power the device via a USB 3 connection to the computer. To access the SD Card, remove it from the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ and then use a SD Card reader attached to your computer to access the files. If you have a Xbox Series X/S plugged into 4K60 Pro and are using a 120Hz monitor, you will be able to play and capture at either 1080p 120Hz or 1440p 120Hz, depending on which resolution your monitor supports.
